What do you think about in the shower?
What do you think about in the shower?
What comes to mind when you are relaxed?
When you are not rushing about, doing five things at once, or balancing life's priorities, what do you think about? Do you day dream about the future? Relive the past? Maybe you just focus on getting clean.
For me the shower is the source of a crazy amount of ideas and solutions to problems I don't always realize I have. It give me a chance to let my mind wander and attack what's going on in my life that doesn't have to do with the daily grind.
A few examples are:
- Thought up the idea and title for my next ebook (Can't wait to share it with you in the coming days).
- Figured out how to answer dozens of potentially awkward emails politely, but to the point.
- Developed more inventions and business ideas than I can count.
- Reviewed the schedule for a busy day and figured out how to balance all of my commitments effectively.
- Created new recipes and modified old ones.
- Solved the serious dilemma of how to rearrange my kitchen to fit a new pan or appliance.
- Came up with the idea for this and many other posts.
There have been countless times where a simple shower was enough to get my brain started on something I'd been delaying. For me, the shower is my muse. Which probably explains why as a kid my parents had to drag me out of the shower every morning to get me on the bus to school.
I know I'm not the only one who finds the shower completely inspirational, but I also know that it's not the case for some of you. Some people have other times and places where they feel completely at ease and are ready to answer what floats through their heads. It could be during a drive (also a place I find peace), in meditation or prayer, during intense activity, or just sitting in a comfy chair with a cup of tea and some good music. Or it can be a combination of these activities depending on your mood.
What's important is to find a place where you can allow yourself time to process. All too often we get caught up in the day to day grind, and don't give ourselves time to really answer the thousands of questions that pop into our head. This ends up causing stress, prevents us from being able to effectively deal with situations, and keeps us running around in circles instead of progressing in life.
What do you think about in the shower or in your place of comfort?
